My name is Frank Bauer. I am living in Kiel - Germany, I am the webmaster of "Frank Bauer's $1,000,000 Web-Mall" and the editor of the "More4you Newsletter".

I am sure some of you might know this already and for the others who don't I wrote this article.

HOW DOES SPONSORING ACTUALLY WORK?

Let's see. We all try to do more or less the same: We try to let our downline grow. Some do it more and some do it less successfully. But why?

Some people place ads all over the internet and then just wait for people to sign up under them. Others bulk email their ad to thousands of people and wait for the same. Sure, these are ways to advertise and I am sure that once in a while you will sign up somebody, BUT if you want to become really successful, you have to remember the following:

You advertise to get leads, not to sign up people! Sure - at the end you are looking for new downline members, but first you need leads!

So you have to remember that when you write your ad. You want to find people that are interested in your network marketing program. You want them to reply to your ad and ask for more details about your program. Or you want them to email your autoresponder for more information.

So in your ad you don't have to tell them about all the features of the program - just let them know all the benefits they will receive from your program. AND let them know exactly how they can get more information about your program. It's important that you make this very clear.

Now somebody answered your ad or requested information from your autoresponder. Now you have a lead, what's next? You can start to build a relationship between you and the lead. How can you do that?

First you have to follow up on that lead. If they emailed you directly, you can simply answer all of their questions, remind them again of all the benefits of your program and you should add a section in which you explain, why they should join through you. What can you offer them that others don't?

What everybody can offer at least is: "Unlimited online consulting" until they feel confident on their own. This sounds great and it is. But what exactly does this mean? Whenever they have any questions, they are more than welcome to email you about it. Don't worry if you are new in your program and don't know the answer. In this case you always have your upline and can just forward the questions to them. Can you believe that some people that try to build a downline, don't even do that?

If your lead requested information from your autoresponder, you can ask them if they still have any questions, remind them also of all the benefits of your program and tell them why they should join through you.

Already at this first follow up, place the email addresses of the people in your direct upline in the CC (Carbon Copy) field of your follow up email message. Now you are not on your own anymore - your upline can and will help you to build a relationship with your lead. This is a very simple, but also very effective tool to build your downline. Use it and teach your downline members to use it too.

How often does your upline follow up? Usually only that one time when their downline copied them in their follow up to the lead. Your upline will place your email address in the CC field of their follow up to your lead. Then you will receive a copy of their follow up in your email box. Your upline will mention in their follow up that they did hear from you that the lead is interested in your program.

Did you see what I wrote before? "Already at this first follow up ..." ! What does this mean? Simply that very often one follow up is not enough. If your lead answers your first follow up and asks you anything else about your program it is easy. Again, answer all of their questions, remind them of all the benefits of your program and let them know why they should join you.

Try to add with every follow up additional information, benefits and reasons to join you.

But what do you do if a lead did not reply to your follow up within, lets say, 2 to 4 weeks? You accept that this person is not interested in your program? Wrong! How do you know that this lead is not interested? There might be thousands of other reasons why they did not reply! Just follow up another time after 2 to 4 weeks.

If they still don't reply, follow up another time. I usually keep following up at least 5 or 6 times before I delete their email address in my records. How often should you follow up if they reply? Easy answer, as long as they reply you keep following up. Even if they just reply that at this time they are not interested. Follow up a month later and ask if they are now interested.
